As an animal welfare organization, the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) is always looking for ways to encourage responsible pet ownership and finding loving homes for as many pets as possible. That's why we're excited to announce our new 3 week foster incentive program, designed to encourage more people to consider fostering pets in need.
Fostering is a wonderful way to help animals in need while also experiencing the joys of pet ownership without the long-term commitment. By opening up your home to a foster pet, you provide a safe and comfortable environment for them to live in while they wait for their forever home. This not only helps to reduce overcrowding in our shelters but also gives these pets a chance to socialize, receive individual attention and love, and even gain new skills like house-training or basic obedience.
Like many animal welfare organizations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) has been impacted by the recent increase in the canine influenza virus (CIV) and upper respiratory infections (URI), both of which are highly contagious, especially in a shelter environment. To prevent the spread of these illnesses to other healthy dogs in our care, HSNT is seeking the help of the community to foster large dogs as well as puppies who have been exposed but are not showing flu-like symptoms.
To show our appreciation for your help, HSNT is offering a $250 cash incentive to foster families who provide a temporary home for these dogs. We will also provide fosters with training, supplies, and cover 100% of the foster dog's veterinary care. This incentive applies to fosters who take in a dog at least 40 pounds or three (or more) puppies from the same litter for a three-week period. Fosters must commit to fostering for the entire three-week period to receive the $250 incentive and must keep the foster dog(s) separate from any other household pets. At this time, we are only able to provide one foster incentive per household.
We believe that this program will not only benefit the animals in our care, but also the foster families who open their hearts and homes to them. Fostering can be an incredibly rewarding experience, as you get to see firsthand the difference you're making in the life of an animal in need. You may even get to experience the joy of seeing a pet you've fostered find their forever home!
If you're interested and available to foster, please click the link below to put yourself on deck for puppies or an adult dog. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these dogs and help them find the loving homes they deserve. Thank you for your help!
