EQUINE RESOURCES

Temporary Assistance

Life can be unpredictable, and we understand that equine owners may face challenges that require temporary assistance, particularly when it comes to feed. If you are struggling to afford feed and/or hay, the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) may be able to offer resources to help temporarily relieve the pressure.

How It Works

Submit Your Request: Equine owners can quickly submit a request for temporary assistance, detailing their specific needs.

Connect with our Team: Our Equine team will then evaluate your needs to see if we have any programs that would benefit you.

Receive Resources: Our team will reach out and speak with you to let you know what resources are available to you.

Although not everyone will qualify for financial assistance, our team will be able to provide options and resources for you based on your specific circumstances.

This program is specifically designed for short-term needs, providing a quick and effective solution when life throws unexpected challenges your way. Currently, this program is only available for equines (horses and donkeys).

REHOME

If you need to surrender your healthy equine for any reason, please contact us. We’ll talk through options to determine the best course of action for you and your animal. Equines are received as space allows and by utilizing collaborative partners and foster homes. As we do not have sanctuary capacity, all equines will be adopted out to approved homes when ready to do so.

WORKING TOGETHER TO HELP EQUINES IN NEED

Through strong partnerships and working together, HSNT is helping owners and their animals in the North Texas area. Thanks to a grant from the Texas Thoroughbred Association with support from the ASPCA®, and The Right Horse Initiative, we are pleased to collaborate with the SPCA of Texas to offer the extensive services above to surrounding communities of North Texas.

If you need assistance with your livestock such as chickens, goats, cows etc., please visit our Livestock Resource page.

For rabbits and other small animals, please visit our Rehoming or Surrendering a Pet page.
